Good Memory

Any memory experts here ? Why do some people have a good memory & some people have bad memory ?

I have always had a good memory, but I feel my long term memory is better, I mean things which happened much earlier. Has memory got anything to do with age ?? I mean as we grow older will our memory also depreciate to some extent or not ? Or is that 'relative' / varies from person to person ?

I beleive memory depends upon the mind's serenity. My best friend has a great memory. He can read a book on a few days and can remember every bit of it with the page number.

If he watches a movie or a sports match, he remembers everybit of it to the last detail.

Same with computers(he is a computer scientist, by the way).

I envy him. I once asked him how does he remember so many things. His answer was just onw word: listen. His face had something more to say. It is always in a happy, serene mood. So is his mind. I have never seen him losing out in an argument for a want of facts.

With him, I have come to believe that memory and age have no relations as long as the body is kept healthy and the mind in a serene mood.
